WELCOME TO TRANSED 2018!
Eden Social Welfare Foundation, with the support of Taiwan Government is
proud to host TRANSED 2018. Past TRANSED and TRANSED 2018 have been co-sponsored
by the US Transportation Research Board.
Held every three years, the TRANSED conferences are milestone events in the
field of accessible transportation, attracting researchers, policy-makers,
transport operators, consumers and other specialists worldwide to share
innovations and best practices.
Delegates from around the world will be meeting in Taipei to exchange
strategic and technical experience, including an exhibition showcasing the
latest technological developments on accessible transportation and universal
TRANSED 2018 INTRODUCTION
A. Date, Time and Venue
15th International Conference on Mobility and Transport for Elderly and
Disabled Persons (TRANSED 2018) will be held in Taipei from Monday November 12
to Thursday November 15, 2018 at the Taipei International Convention Center, No.
1 Hsin-Yi Road, Section 5, Taipei 11049, Taiwan R. O. C.
The objective of TRANSED 2018 is to review advances in research, profile
international breakthroughs and explore perspectives for technological
innovations in response to the mobility challenges of an ageing population and
persons with disabilities. It will also be an occasion to determine where the
challenges lie and to provide direction on how to address these challenges.
C. Tentative Program
Delegates, including researchers, policy-makers, transport operators,
consumers and other specialists from around the world, will be meeting in Taipei
to engage in strategic and technical exchanges under the theme "Mobility for
All: Connecting the World with Accessible Transportation".
November 12 is the pre-conference workshop and pre-conference visit, November
13 to 15 is the main conference and exhibition and November 16-19 is the
post-conference accessible tour.
The Conference will pay particular attention the topic of "smart city network
& smart growth", which is building momentum in Asia and the Pacific Region, as
well as worldwide.
This event will also feature an exhibition showcasing the latest
technological developments in accessible transportation and universal design.
Accessible tours will be arranged to Yingge, Sanxia, Bali, Danshui and Wulai.
These are a few of the main townships in Taipei City and New Taipei City that
have witnessed major developments in the last few years.
D. Hosting Organization
Eden Social Welfare Foundation, with the support of Taiwan Government, is
proud to host this conference and exhibition. TRANSED is traditionally held in
Europe and North America; Taiwan is the fourth city in Asia to host TRANSED
Eden Social Welfare Foundation advocates an inclusive society for all. Eden
owns 6 fleets of 403 accessible buses and coaches for older adults and persons
with disabilities in Taiwan and off-shore islands.
As a world-class city in Asia, Taipei is a vibrant and cosmopolitan community
featuring the best of East and West. This balance produces a creative and
dynamic culture and an ideal environment for conference participants from around
the world to exchange ideas and network.
A limited number of scholarships will be offered to authors and delegates
whose abstract/participation discuss work that has substantial contribution in
their home country and who are in need of financial assistance to attend the
A) Selection criteria:
- recognized contribution to the development of an inclusive society and
promotion of accessibility;
- originates from a developing country and has financial limitations that
prevent travel to Taipei and participation in TRANSED 2018;
- persons with disability will be given priority consideration;
- the basis of accepted abstract for a paper or poster, e.g. giving a
presentation that will benefit all the participants of the conference;
- ability and willingness to promote exchange and share knowledge with the local
B) Scholarships are being provided in the form of:
- travel allowance, i.e. air tickets, local transfer, etc; and/or
- accommodation allowance; and/or
- conference fees; and/or
- personal attendant support.
C) Minimum scholarship amount per person is $550 USD and an additional $120
USD for care attendant, if warranted.
D) You are not required to submit an application for scholarship until your
abstract has been accepted and you have been notified of such an acceptance.
E) The Scientific Committee is the final authority and has full discretion in
deciding on a scholarship, the format, the level and the method.
The conference will be conducted in English and Chinese (Putonghua /
Mandarin) with simultaneous interpretation. Braille transcriptions and
large-printed copies must be requested in advance.
INVITATION TO SUBMIT ABSTRACTS FOR PAPERS AND POSTERS
Interested parties are encouraged to submit abstracts for papers and posters.
The accepted abstracts and papers will be published in the conference
proceedings. Authors of accepted poster abstracts are encouraged to write papers
for inclusion in the proceedings.
